Duration with Skye: 14 Months
For 2 years I did what most girls are told to - plenty of cardio! I did Zumba and Spin (and more Spin!) and not once did I see my body change. I was size 8 and didn't really need to lose any weight but what I always wanted was to be toned, it just never happened. A friend mentioned lifting weights to tone up and I immediately had images of big body building women in my head.
Then one day, I'm sitting in the dentist's waiting area, flicking through the Ulster Tatler when I came across an article Gary had written "Here Come The Girls". Gary talked about women spending endless hours doing aerobic classes and eating very little to change their shape - but getting nowhere. That was me! I was desperate to feel great in my bikini for holidays so thought, 'why not - I've tried everything else'. I emailed Gary who set up a meeting with me where we discussed what I should be eating and how I should be training.
I started with the Semi Personal Training Trial which I highly recommend as I learned about good form when lifting and the different types of exercises you can do with weights (surprisingly to me there are lots!). I have been doing strength training for 8 weeks now and have lost 7lbs and plenty of inches (the inches was what I really wanted to lose) and feel fantastic! Every week I take progress photos and every week I see a change! And if I couldn't see it myself, my husband tells me regularly how great I look and how small my waist is getting! I can't thank Gary and the team enough for educating me, I just wish someone had told me sooner...I could have saved a lot of time and money!
